THE RESEARCH TEAM
The immersive interactive virtual environment (IIVE), as a space, could become a more commonly embraced platform for healthcare in the digital era. An initial trial provided evidence signposting where future exploration might now lead. Participants involved through the co-design process presented, for example: Childhood Trauma, Suicide Ideation, Anorexia, Anxiety, PTSD. The on-going study is multi-disciplinary as well as being user-led, with full appreciation to the participants who continue their involvement as equal partners.
The technical aspects were developed day-to-day throughout 2018-19 alongside Master-Technician Ellis Douglas, who supported the design from Day One at Northumbria University's Coach Lane facility. All immersive VR technology linked to the study is provided by Immersive Interactive, based in Southport in the North West of the United Kingdom, who are constantly expanding their company's focus into fresh environments.
Immersive Interactive Timeline Therapy (IITT), as an empowerment tool to assist human flourishing at a local, regional and global level, forms part of an on-going, interdisciplinary study (HCI; cognitive sciences) being developed at Northumbria University by doctoral researcher Tor Alexander Bruce.
